Is the treatment safe?+
Yes. Dermalux has one of the highest safety profiles of any skin care treatment. It does not generate heat or UV wavelengths, so it cannot damage skin tissue or create photosensitivity. It is clinically proven to be safe for all skin types and the most sensitive skin conditions.
Are there any side effects?+
There is no risk of irritation, side effects, or downtime that may be associated with more invasive procedures. There have been no reported side effects in over 3,000 published clinical studies. However, photosensitive medications or health conditions may be contraindicated due to increased sensitivity to light exposure.
Is skin tone affected by these treatments?+
Due to naturally higher levels of melanin in darker skin types, additional LED treatments may be required for optimum results. We recommend following the standard treatment protocols initially and reviewing throughout the programme.
How many treatments are required?+
Subject to indication and severity, age, and lifestyle, an initial course of 8 to 12 sessions is generally recommended for all conditions. Treatments taken in quick succession will generally achieve faster results.
What are the benefits of Dermalux Tri-Wave MD?+
By combining three wavelengths, clinical reports show Dermalux LED light treatment promotes healthy skin that regenerates up to 200% faster — boosting collagen, increasing hydration, calming redness, and clearing acne-causing bacteria for youthful, radiant skin.
Will Dermalux give me a tan?+
No. Tri-Wave MD does not use any wavelengths in the UV spectrum. Our LEDs have a very narrow nanometre tolerance to ensure they only emit the required peak wavelength.
Why can't I see the Near Infrared light?+
The human eye detects wavelengths between 400nm and 700nm as color. Near Infrared wavelengths (around 800nm+) are invisible to us, but they remain a very powerful, therapeutic form of energy.
Is Near Infrared light beneficial alone?+
Absolutely. NIR is the wound-healing wavelength. It accelerates repair, calms inflammatory and problem skin conditions, and is clinically proven for pain relief.
Can I be treated while undergoing treatment for cancer?+
We do not recommend Dermalux treatment for anyone currently undergoing medical treatment for cancer. Once signed off by your oncologist or doctor it is safe to proceed. Dermalux can be used on clients who have previously had cancer.
Can Dermalux be used during pregnancy?+
Although the Dermalux treatment is very safe, our devices have not been tested on pregnant women, so the risk is unknown. Treatment is at the discretion of the practitioner. It is safe to use while breastfeeding.
Is there an age limit for the Dermalux treatment?+
No. Dermalux is safe for all ages; however, treatment of clients under 18 is at the discretion of the clinic and may require parental consent.
What is S.A.D. and how does Tri-Wave MD help?+
Seasonal Affective Disorder is a type of depression with a seasonal pattern, often worse in the dark winter months. Tri-Wave MD is clinically proven to help balance serotonin — the 'happy hormone' — easing low mood, lethargy, loss of interest, sleep changes, carbohydrate cravings, and difficulty concentrating.
